ABOUT THIS PROJECT:

Sven Strasser’s philosophy is also to care for, protect and preserve our environment and biodiversity. Thoughtless and unquestioning work is not valued or practiced. Overexploitation of nature and the resulting extinction of species is not simply accepted or glossed over with „greenwashing“. We try to work as seriously and environmentally friendly as possible. Suppliers of ingredients, containers, labels and packaging.
SCHÜTZENSWERT also supports organizations such as the Austrian Nature Society to counteract the acute extinction of insect species. The focus is on the preservation and restoration of orchards, mountain meadows and biotopes. For every product you buy from Sven Strasser Austria, at least 1 euro goes to such a project. For the BOTANIK series, it is 2-5 euros each. You are also welcome to buy a T-shirt or postcards, in which case the entire amount, minus the cost of materials, goes to one of these projects. More about this here.

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

You can often achieve great things with simple things. Unfortunately, a garden that looks „perfect“ to our eyes often offers little space for our insects. These, in turn, ensure a balanced and healthy soil climate in the garden. Try to mow the lawn only 2-3 times at the beginning of spring or leave a few square meters unmown. Wild bees and honey collectors often appreciate inconspicuous flowers with rather small calyxes. I am a big fan of roses myself, but they are not particularly interesting for insects. Simply plant low ground cover for bees under the roses. Dead wood is very important and a few branches and trunks in a shady place do not cause any problems. Many insects use this dead wood as a nursery or for pupation. Also think about water sources in midsummer. A bowl filled with pebbles and filled with water below the ground works wonders and the smallest in the garden do not have to suffer. Leave perennials standing in winter, they serve as hibernation plants. With living, healthy soil and a magnificent biodiversity, we can largely do without pesticides and artificial fertilizers, which ultimately benefits the valuable ingredients and ourselves.
